As we look like we are to enter a period of austerity, should we look at this as a period of re-building and self analysis? Would it not benefit children to here the word 'no' once and a while when they ask for the latest must-have.
Would it not benefit us to watch what we waste and cut back on things that we take for granted?
I say bring it on, I am ready.....
whoknows

I agree. I grew up in the seventies, when ice on the inside of windows wasn't uncommon. As a society we are so much more affluent nowadays, but are we any happier? Doesn't look like it.
I was listening to someone moaning abpout heating bills a couple of days ago. She was walking around her house in a t-shirt, heating on.
But I hope it doesn't end up like the early 80s - it felt like there was no hope - might have been more to do with Thatcher than recession though. Can't say I noticed the recession of the 90s at all - there wasn't much left to recess by then around these parts, maybe?
